Yoga Practice for the Middle-aged
With the explosion of numerous journals relating to health and fitness, it is no surprise that there would be material written on the positive effects yoga has on health. It's hard to ignore what the benefits of yoga can have on the physical body as well as the spiritual body. It is all about preventative medicine, doing yoga regularly will help decrease your chances of getting common middle aged problems. Now that's a good deal!
With a regular yoga session, it will help diminish many of those problem areas.
Researchers from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center who have conducted a study showed that regular yoga practice for at least 30 minutes a week for four or more years can lead to weight loss for obese people in their middle ages.
From a study of 20,000 men and women, researches have concluded that yoga was much more beneficial to the men and women who did yoga on a regular basis than those who did not.
One myth regarding health is that you need an intense exercise regime to lose weight, rest assured that the people did not enroll in an intense session of yoga. The researchers feel that the weight loss is due more to the way yoga makes people attentive of their bodies, than the direct burning of energy and the resultant weight.
